City & Guilds Certification

The City and Guilds Microcomputer Technology Part 3: Computer Engineering and Microelectronics Technologies (223-3-26)

The City and Guilds Microcomputer Technology Part 3 Program: 223-3-26 Computer Engineering and Microelectronics Technologies is based on AIT’s syllabus that concentrates on the concepts, principles and the practice of computer engineering and as well as on microelectronics technologies. This is a full-time one year program with two 2-weeks breaks during the year and 4 weeks for revision and end-of-program exams

The program is design to meet a growing demand for qualified computer engineers with the requisite core theoretical and practical background, skills and expertise in engineering principles and practice and computer science to design, develop, test and maintain computer hardware and software systems and applications. This advanced level computer engineering program combines theoretical and practical elements of electronic and electrical engineering; microelectronics technologies; production and industrial engineering as well as computer science including core aspects of software engineering, microprocessors, computer networks, telecommunications; computer graphics, systems analysis and design among others.

The program uniquely blends applied mathematical tools and techniques including those of statistical modeling and optimization techniques, with core computer science concepts, hardware and software systems and applications and with key engineering principles and practice focusing on microelectronics, electrical and electronic engineering core subject areas and elements of industrial and production engineering.

The program reflects the current training and employment needs of the international market. Available at three levels with Theory and Applied routes at each level:

Technician Certificate:A broad introduction to the theory and practical sides of engineering for a front- line worker or a person beginning an academic training.

Technician Diploma: More practice involving a broader range of skills appropriate to a person who may also supervise, or who is going on to higher education.

Advanced Technician Diploma: Takes the skills learned at Certificate and Diploma to the level appropriate for a person preparing for or working in first-level management. It is also appropriate for someone who wants to receive specialized training at a higher level.
